TenFit Community Development (TCD) is a Public company limited by guarantee embraced within mpowerdome’s whole facility concept.
Our purpose
Our purpose is to facilitate community capacity building by providing the administrative vehicle for sourcing, accessing and administering funds and pathways to maximize the full potential of those providers who meet the objects of TCD.
TCD is also an administrative vehicle for the formulation of community pathways and partnerships assist all of the community toward total health and wellbeing.
TCD’s focus areas are:
- To provide the opportunity for all sectors of the community, including those with any form of disability/disadvantage, age or otherwise to participate in physical activity, sport, health promotion, education and related activities.
- To foster, and engage in, community action by working with governments, agencies/bodies and business to plan and implement strategies and programs to achieve social capital, community capacity building by participating in physical activity and sport safely, fairly, with due regard and respect for all participants, so that everyone benefits in health and personal development.
- To research, formulate and deliver programs for special population groups to enhance their fitness, facilitate acquisition of skills, provide information to assist them in obtaining and maintaining overall health, and quality of life.
Current / Past Projects
2007/08 ACT Health Promotion Grants - Falls Prevention Program
TenFit Community Development was a successful recipient of an ACT Health Promotion Grant for delivery of “Keenagers, A Fresh Approach to Falls Prevention”. This is a 20 week Program delivered to 2 Nursing Homes and 1 Retirement Village over 20 weeks. Participants engaged in activities to enhance core strength, strength and conditioning activities and modified games.
Special Olympics ACT Region Invitational State Games 2007
TenFit Community Development obtained reduced court hire from mpowerdome, the use of mpowerdome equipment and the expertise of their staff to direct and facilitate different aspects of the tournament.
2006 Womens Indigenous
TenFit Community Development received a Grant from Tennis ACT and the Indigenous Sports Program to conduct a 9 week program for indigenous women providing fitness instruction, tennis coaching, and a nutrition element which ACT Health delivered.
